Our Story
Master craftsman and descendant of a long line of weavers from Charlieu, in the heart of the historic Lyon region of silk weaving, Sophie Quéré trained as an upholsterer at La Bonne Graine in Paris. With an artist's eye, she searches for forgotten furniture and furnishing objects from 19th century France in order to bring them back to light for the 21st century. Admired around the world for its beauty and refinement, this style once furnished residences throughout Europe. Quéré's meticulous work and bohemian flair allow these pieces to be celebrated again by giving them a new lease of life.
Sophie's know-how in French upholstery perpetuates a tradition that has remained virtually unchanged since the eighteenth century. The pieces are embellished with modern patterns, colors and designs from hand-selected textiles in France and far-flung travels.

Each piece is handcrafted and renovated, carefully selected for its quality and splendour. For the founder and artisan of SidebySide, these are sleeping beauties and her artistic vision and taste know no bounds in the creation of this unique and unexpected collection.
Through her artistic creations, Sophie shares the joie de vivre and conviviality of her native France. SidebySide harmoniously celebrates the past and present by mixing antique furniture with contemporary fabrics, creating something energetic and elegant, unstructured.
Side by side was created in New York in 2017 where it developed for 6 years. Since 2024, the company has opened its activity in France and will move to a new workshop in Paris, Place des Abbesses, in the heart of Montmartre.
